Working as a freelance contractor as part of a loose association of designers and web-programmers I can offer a wide range of competitively priced services and products with the backing of established suppliers.
Having spent 10 years working in digital media, I have a clear set of goals when undertaking a project:
I can undertake whole projects and draw on a pool of established contractors for design, hosting and additional programming.
I love open source when it works, it means you have access to a vibrant community of intelligences providing all sorts of possibilities and solutions.
However the unstructured nature of these communities can mean proper technical support can be difficult to find, which is where I come in. I take open-source technology and use it as the foundation of configurable, stable and usable systems.
For larger CMS jobs I use Drupal. It is very flexible, widely used (e.g. Sony Music® etc.), has a large community of developers associated with it and can easily be extended using PHP to write custom modules.
Many of the neatest web-site interfaces (this one, for example, and google mail) are powered by AJAX, where information is dynamically loaded into web-pages on request. Using these kinds of technologies I can create accessible and successful web interfaces that adhere to web standards and encourage people to use your web site.
I have experience across a variety of interactive digital media, through building CD-ROMS and kiosk-style installations for conferences.
I have also worked as an audio engineer and as such have skills relating to the editing, treatment and compression of digital audio. If you wish to find out more about my musical activities, visit my bloke zero site.
